MADE IN NIGERIA

MADE IN NIGERIA… I was reading through a news update on Vanguard Newspaper’s Facebook Fan Page on 20th August, 2014, with this caption: “Nigeria challenges the world with ‘9jaBOLT’ Solar Car; and the comments that were coming from Nigerians stunned me. The comments were negative, unpatriotic criticisms against the ‘Naija’ (Nigeria) made car. It was very disheartening for me to see such comments against such a good invention from Nigeria. I marvelled at how Nigerians could be so wicked and pessimistic to themselves. How they could not believe in themselves and cherish their own things. I don’t like people who cannot believe in themselves. I hate people who don’t appreciate their own things; especially the so-called Nigeria youths and leaders of tomorrow – they don’t believe in anything good springing up from Nigeria. The questions begging for answers in Nigeria are: When do we start believing in ourselves? When do we start appreciating ourselves and our own things? W

WE ARE NOT BUS CONDUCTORS - Patience Jonathan

Image
Patience Jonathan The First Lady, Patience Jonathan, on Thursday, February 26, sought to rally support for her husband, President Goodluck Jonathan, while addressing women at PDP Women for Change Initiative Presidential Rally in Delta state.   Below are 5 key quotes from Patience Jonathan’s speech: 1. “The PDP is a party that talks less and does more, unlike the APC that tells new lies every week. When you catch them today, they will tell another lie tomorrow.” 2. “We (PDP) do not tell you about change because we are not bus conductors that ask for change.” 3. “We are now in a digital age and we should reject anyone who wants to take us back to analog days.” 4. “They keep saying they will do this and that. They should tell us what they have done for Nigerians while in office. As for President Jonathan, he has vowed to do more when he is re-elected.” 5.“President Jonathan has brought a lot of innovation and empowerment programmes for us women. This is because no one love

Why I tore my PDP membership card – Obasanjo

Image
Why I tore my PDP membership card – Obasanjo It was reliably gathered that the party had mooted the idea of formally suspending him from its fold but was restrained by the leadership which had hoped he would soft-pedal over time, only for Obasanjo to unleash more caustic assaults last week, alleging a determination of the president to win the forthcoming presidential election by hook or crook. Obasanjo early yesterday, announced his exit from the party while hosting members of the PDP from his Ward 11, Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State, who called on him to enquire on his continued membership of the party following what they claimed as the no love lost relationship with the president. The members were led by the ward chairman, Alhaji Usman Oladunjoye who asked him to explain where he belongs. In his response, Obasanjo said he had his ears close to the ground and said that he, too, had heard of the plan by the PDP leadership to sanction him. He said: “You

Fighting Terrorism, Not a Football Match

Goodluck Jonathan to Ezekwesili: Fighting terrorism, definately not a football match. THE Presidency, yesterday, described as insincere and mischievous, the launch by BringBack Our Girls group of a countdown for the Chibok girls to regain freedom, saying fighting terrorism and insurgency is not a football match where commentaries were run for the delight of spectators. In a statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, it said Pres ident Goodluck Jonathan in his media chat never promised that the girls would be freed within six weeks, noting that the count-down by the former minister and her group was unnecessary. Okupe said: “Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to former Minister of Education and a leader of the Bring Back our Girls Group, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, to the effect that President Goodluck Jonathan has made an affirmative statement that the girls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in Government Secondary Schoo
